Three or four years ago I caught my first and only shot of interference patterns caused by light streaming through the holes of backed-up Pegboard Panels. The glimmer of a question takes form. Does this only happen on specific calendar days? Is it confined to more rare occurrences like the Equinox or Solstice. Does it require some other astronomical alignment that occurs on a multi-year cycle? Will it only occur if the Pegboard is at some specific distance from the wall … because for the purposes of this experiment we must assume the light source is at infinite distance and all light rays therefore completely paralle. If I wanted to create this effect on purpose, what would it take? Are backed-up panels at Gondola backing width required? Most importantly, could I raise money to research this retail environment enigma and support my lifestyle via Kickstarter?
