Te simplest-of-simple open wire divider systems controls and organizes Duck Tape® facings into well ordered lanes for selection and sale. The front ProductStop is push pinned to the shelf edge as an anchor. Single wire struts create the duct tape dividers, since not much is needed structurally to accomplish that goal. A directional-heavy promotion like this Bon-Ton® Stock-Up Sale certainly benefits from additional arrows and navigation aids. If you have difficulty finding floor graphic arrows, why not just make some yourself? I can’t recommend the material from firsthand experience, but I suspect that famous Duck Tape® would be perfect for this Do-I-Yourself creation. CLICK the thumbnail for alternate view. I have documented many Duck Tape displays and merchandising fixtures. More and more the brand offers designer patterns and colors. And while I have known of widespread use of Duck Tape for crafts and even mainline retail Wallets, seeing it expand into Jewelry is new to me. No wonder the is an entire universe of color and pattern in Duck Tape now. It drives sales into new craft and hobby areas, as well as decorative everyday uses.
If you’ve got a new and better solution than tried-and-true Duck Tape®, you better tell your story clearly in-store. Here FiberFix® Repair Wrap sings its own praises and provides how-to instructions to any and all in the aisle. A very interesting display. But I could not tell if the FiberFix’d samples had been broken and repaired or not, and they were bolted down rather than tethered. An actually broken-then-repaired sample to bend and stress would have been great. CLICK the thumbnail and gallery for various views and details.
Not only is this temporary point-of-purchase display gravity feed, it employs a radically steep angle to keep designer rolls of Duck Tape well forward and dramatically presented. Corrugated lane dividers reinforce the regime and foster a well-ordered look. A lengthy corrugated branded Masthead spans several units to command more attention than each could do singly. This post’s title comes straight from the Duck Tape® shelf-edge promotion tag line. And rather than dull and boring, the “Same Old” portion is meant to recall the image of a tough, durable, reliable Duct Tape solution to any fix-it need. The “New Bright Colors” is an added benefit. CLICK the thumbnail for an overall view of the Gravity-Feed Duct Tape Department. Interesting that the shelf edge promotes “Duct” tape not “Duck®” tape which is one of the brands on-shelf. Scotch® Duct Tape on the shelf below does not brag about new colors.
Those savvy marketers over at Duck Tape® continue to roll out new merchandising concepts as well as fixture presentations. This offering celebrates a huge Do-It-Yourself Duck Tape® market with a niche product of its own. It combines the designer roll tape offerings seen fixtured and merchandised separately with pattered sheets and an 18-project instruction book. Pallet Rack merchandising is via the Kit’s own corrugated carton, perforated to fold into a branded display. That in itself shows extra creativity for Creativity Kit sales. This is an amazingly sophisticated and good looking wall-hung gravity feed unit. The masthead promotes “Color Tape” but if you look closely you see the brand is famous “Duck Tape.” So why not promote the Brand not just Color? Maybe the Duck people have to fight an ingrained impression of what Duck Tape looks like in our minds when we hear or see the words. Could this be a case where the famous name limits mental and market penetration? This would be an interesting marketing case study. Meanwhile the Duck rack design is every bit as ducky as the tape. Note the “Returns” area at the bottom allowing easy return of browsed-but-rejected selections. Otherwise the unpurchased would be helter skelter all over the store.
