A casual stack of shopping baskets on the floor might be “good enough” but see how much better and more professional they look in even a simple wire-frame stand. These baskets are of the new multi-use style … carry or roll, whatever suits. The stand top allows for quick sign changes. This message is practical, but use your imagination for other welcoming messages. A dash of color might have been nice. Or better yet pointer to a BOGO up the adjacent aisle. CLICK the thumbnail for a closer look.
Pallet Rack and Pallet merchandising have a long running thread here on FixturesCloseUp. It seems totally appropriate to provide a link to 20 Do-It-Yourself Pallet Projects as a sidebar. Why waste the huge overhead clearance to the roof in garden supplies? This fishing line floating tent in the clouds takes up no floor space, and calls attention to shoppers, even if only tangentially related to gardening. My only suggestion, post descriptive information on the bottom of the tent ground cover so that this interested could learn its features and price. Some might buy for camping. Some as an actual garden retreat. CLICK Through the gallery for various views.
Pegboard and Slatwall Extenders position extra display surface forward, with space behind for long merchandise. This display sells garden hand tools in front of long-handled shovels, spades, rakes and hoes. Forward Extender outfitting is Plastic Backplate Straight-Entry Hooks. Long-Handled items are displayed via various Double Arm Pegboard, Saddle-Mount Bar, Serpentine and Serrated Utility Hooks. The Extender Unit mounts to Gondola Upright. Just remove an assortment from their boxes and these Garden Chimes do a better job singing out and self-merchandising on Straight-Entry Hooks than rows of static facings, though the backstock is provided below for purchase. The rustic twine and light chain hangs evoke a homey (or garden?) feel. Two-piece, Metal-Backplate, Straight-Entry Scan Hooks allow this display to be easily placed tight under the overhanging upper shelf. See that the Hook-front continuous label strip is Brown to match the Pegboard back and woodsy display environment. Garden Chime tones could be tested for appeal too, in a hooked hang like this. Most gardens have a bench and a picket fence, so maybe it strikes a responsive mental chord to carry through the theme to Bench Miniatures and Retail Shelf-Edge Fencing? Loss control might be an added incentive. See that the green Garden Bench is already chipped and damaged. Maybe the white Fencing is an addition to help keep items on the shelf. Once Fall planting season fads, an early change to Winter Merchandise can keep the Garden Department active and profitable. While corporate preps the permanent signs, this aggressive store sales staff fills the gap with hand-lettered signs promoting Snow Shovels and Salt available in the Garden Department. Bravo, floor staff. CLICK the thumbnail for alternate angle or this home-made sign and directional solution.
